Question:

--Hi, I am currently doing online home schooling in Ohio. I'm in high school and my mom is planning to move to morgantown WV. I was thinking of maybe going to WVU since it is there. I want to know how I can reduce costs for college cause I know that since I'm not a resident I will have to pay out of state tuition. Can financial aid reduce those costs if my mom makes low income? Or would I have to be in high school for a year in WV to pay the in state tuition costs? If I go to WVU for one year will that make me a WV resident? I'm so confused so please help.
Thanks in advance

Answers:

--If you go to live with your mom in WV then you will be considered a resident. It has to do with where your permanent residency will be, not where you went to high school. Going to school in a state will not make you a residence unless you rent a place in WV and make it your permanent residence.

--Become fit, and be very athletic.

That is what I recommend.

--You have to be living in the state for 1 or sometime more years while not going to enroll in college but some states will let it slice if meet a few requirements.

FFA will reduce a good amount of your tuition and it's easy to apply. Look on your schools fin aid or scholarship website to see what they have to offer and what the criteria is.

--Call the finical aid office at WVU. (304) 293-5242 |

Tell them your situation and they will help you out with details.

Also if you go to WVU for a year, that means you will live in WV for a year, which makes you a resident for a year.
